We have some good news and bad news in regards to our rare fruit tree supply this year, with the latter being the loss of the only wholesale nursery propagating Quince trees in the lower mainland. On the plus side, we hit the jackpot in regards to the usually stingy supply of Persimmon, with three hardy American varieties, one robust hybrid (Nikita’s Gift) and ten Japanese cultivars available, including the very rare black-skinned ‘Raven’. We also have a handful of Jujube or Chinese Red Date to offer this season.
Please note that the hardiness between the various tree species varies from marginal to quite cold hardy, so take note of the zone rating listed and be careful to find the ideal microclimate for the best success.
