One of the first hybrid dogwoods released by the Rutgers University program, it features fuchsia to deep pink colored bracts that are star-shaped but do not overlap much, making for an attractive silhouette. ‘Scarlet Fire’ is also disease resistant, heat tolerant and has proved to withstand colder winter temperatures. The main attraction here are the richer coloured blooms, which literally glow in the distance.

Grows 15-20’ tall. Hardy to USDA zone 5. 3-gallon pot.
