Many experts feel that this Cornus kousa cultivar is a hardier version of ‘Satomi’ (tolerating 5-10F colder temperatures) but with deeper green leaves and bracts that fade to an attractive rose-pink with age. The foliage emerges with a burgundy tint and it pulls out all the stops in fall, when it shifts to a dramatic fire engine red. You can also expect the same high disease resistance as found in all Japanese Dogwoods.
